80% of Web Users Are Concerned about Privacy Online, and over 3,000 of the web users surveyed were most concerned with information being gleaned from sites that could compromise an individual’s credit information, banking and even the type of information being displayed on sites, based on the viewer profile. Increases in concern went up along with the age of the respondent, with special concerns voiced about  Facebook’s privacy controversy, for example. Personal privacy is not something people are willing to give up for more relevant advertising, the survey results showed. About 20 percent of those surveyed were willing to provide private information for more targeted ads.
