The
International Surfing Association (ISA, the world
governing authority for surfing, bodyboarding and
waveriding is dedicated to the development of these
sports worldwide. The ISA is a non-profit
organization recognized by the International Olympic
Committee (IOC). Events include 2006 Duke Kahanamoku
Ocean Festival and ISA World Tandem Surfing
Championship held August 17-27 in Waikiki, Hawaii.
The International Tandem Surfing Association (ITSA)
2006 ISA World Tandem Surfing Championships at

Hawaii during the Duke Kahanamoku Ocean Festival is
sanctioned by the ISA and the ITSA. Tandem surfing
is a worldwide sport.
ISA World Surfing Games 2006 will be held in
Huntington
Beach, California, USA, October 14 - 22, 2006.
The ISA World Surfing Games 2006, hosted by Surfing
America will be the 21st edition of the biennial
contest that determines the world's top surfing
nations and awards individual surfing titles and
medals in the categories of shortboard surfing (men
and women), bodyboard (men and women) and longboard.
The tradition started in 1964 at Manly Beach in
Sydney, Australia, where surfers from around the
world representing their home nation competed for
men and women's surfing titles.
The event became progressively larger over the years
and has been acknowledged as the "Olympics of
Surfing". The top National Surfing Teams, including
their top professional surfers, compete for the
honor of representing their countries. The ISA World
Surfing Games 2002, staged in Durban, South Africa
had the attendance of 31 National Teams and over 500
team members. The ISA World Surfing Games 2004 in
Salinas, Ecuador had the attendance of 26 teams and
over 200 competitors.
2007 World
Kneeboard Championships will be held January
7- 14, 2007 in Santa Cruz, California. Kneeboarders
from around the world to showcase their talents to
claim the title as the World Kneeboard Champion. To
provide the competitors a suitable arena on the
world stage, Kneeboard Surfing International (KSI)
will be conducting the 2007 World Kneeboard
Championships at Santa Cruz, California.
The ISA World Masters Surfing Championships will
take place on the beaches of Rincon, the surfing
capital of the Caribbean, January 20-28, 2007. The
event will determine the world's top surfing nations
and award individual titles to the world’s top
Masters surfers. The event will have a 7-day
competition window, right in the middle of the
northern hemisphere winter.
2007
Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships
will be held May 4-13, 2007 in Costa da Caparica,
Portugal. The Federação Portuguesa de Surf ("FPS"),
the International Surfing Association's National
Governing Body for surfriding in Portugal, has been
awarded the rights to host the event.
