Connecticut

Connecticut, the New York neighbor that has the coast at its door.
Connecticut is one of the East Coast’s favorite holiday escapes for hotels, B&B’s and other lodgings.

Connecticut summers are the time we prefer to visit and sit a green, the center of city where there’s actually a lawn, sometimes a fountain and often community buildings. There’s such a special charm to this East Coast state that includes some of the wealthiest, most beautiful cottages and estates outside the big city.

Coastal beaches provide great summer strolls when the weather reaches its all time high, averaging in the 80′s during the summer months (usually in August). Cape Cod is by far the most popular beach destination, touting over 40 miles of beaches…but also lots of traffic as it hosts millions of visitors each summer. Some of the less trafficked spots sometimes overlooked include Newport, famous for its historic attractions. If you visit during the summer, you’ll find and added bonus if you’re a beach lover. Especially beguiling is South County with 17 sand beaches, and Misquamicut Beach in Westerly, with a boardwalk, active nightlife and a variety of hotel options and accommodations.

Winter snow skiing at several ski resorts include Farmington Valley’s Ski Sundown and Mohawk Mountain Ski Area at Cornwall.

From tours of museums such as the unique Gillette Castle (looks like a medieval fortress) in the State Park at East Haddam, to shopping for custom crafted products, it’s likely that you’ll marvel and fall in love with Connecticut’s many charms.
